Automatic Dependent Surveillance- Broadcast, commonly referred to as ADS-B, is a major component to the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) overhaul of the United States airspace system.  This new satellite-based system will help pinpoint aircraft far more accurately than traditional ground-based radar. In an effort to enhance safety, decrease airport congestion, and streamline flight paths, the FAA mandated that all aircraft be equipped with an ADS-B Out receiver by January 1, 2020.

So, what’s that mean to us?  TBA has been working hard to equip our fleet with the necessary equipment to be compliant with the new FAA regulations and we did it! When we are flying around KPIE, KTPA, and over the Gulf of Mexico we are transmitting critical information to air traffic controllers to ensure proper spacing, traffic flow and safety for our students and renters.
